How to block or report a penpal

Your safety comes first. If a penpal makes you uncomfortable, you have two simple tools — here is what each one does and how to use them.

Block or report — what is the difference?

🚫Block

Blocking stops that person from contacting you. It is quiet and immediate — they are not told they have been blocked.

Use it when you simply do not wish to hear from someone.

Report

Reporting alerts our safety team to review that profile. You can add a short note explaining the problem.

Use it when someone breaks our rules — flirtatious or suggestive messages, asking for money, or anything that feels suspicious.

You can do both — block someone and report them.

How to block or report a penpal

  1. From your Inbox, open the conversation with the penpal.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) at the top of the chat, next to their name.
The three-dot menu open in a conversation, showing Block user and Report user
Screenshot: the three-dot menu open, with “Block user” and “Report user” highlighted.
Both options live in the three-dot menu beside your penpal’s name.
  3. Choose what you need:

To block — choose Block user and confirm. That penpal can no longer message you. Changed your mind? Open the same menu and choose Remove block.

To report — choose Report user, type a short reason so our team knows what to look at, then tap Submit report. Once reported, the menu shows Un-report user if you change your mind.

Haven’t messaged them? The block and report tools live inside a conversation. If a profile worries you but you have never written to each other, you can still report it — visit the Contact support page, choose Report a user, and tell us which profile and why.
You are not alone. Every profile on Global Penfriends is reviewed by a real person, and every report is read by our safety team. Reporting helps keep the whole community safe.
