For the past two years my family and I have made a point to go somewhere new every year. It’s cool to say that we’ve hit most of the states along the way and I’ve crossed a bunch off my bucket list.
The first year we went to Las Vegas for my 18th birthday. We drove from Florida so it was cool to see all the different states on our way there. I got to meet an artist I really admire (DC comic artist Jim Lee), I got to have things signed and talk to him for a couple minutes. Its an understatement when I say it was a really cool experience. (The picture is me talking to Jim Lee. It looks like I’m yelling at him but I assure you I was just nervous and I talk with my hands a lot)
The second year we went to New York for a concert. We drove again, and even though the traffic was awful it was really cool driving through places like DC on our way there. The overall experience was really overwhelming but probably the best of my life. I got to see a band I adore (BTS ?) but I also got to go to the MOMA and see two of Van Goghs paintings in person. I admire Van Gogh more than I can explain and he’s a big inspiration when it comes to my art so it’s a feeling I can’t describe when I first saw them. I don’t know where we’re going this year but I’m excited to find out.
