La bandera de mi Isla
We have a new famous artist (Hector PR) know for painting a door in San Juan with the flag of our country, and depending of that status the color changes as a simbol of our situation as a community. Currently he has a goal of putting one in every city, and the people of the island have to try and find the one in their city. Some may be portraying something happening in the city it is in. I’ve already visited a few with my family and many of the flags are in historical places that defines our country. But the one that impacts us more is the one in San Juan. It was painted full black showing how our island was in suffering from a political crisis. After a month or so it was “vandalized”, yes it has been tampered with but it also changed his meaning appearing later on with candles, pictures and trinkets underneath. The artist painted over the writing but painted the flag and even sadder gray color to show the sorrow and disappointment of people under an economic crisis. The flags show up in the newspapers, television and internet. They have also become tourists attractions and many people travel here to see how many they can find around the island. The artist has a campaign of making one in all of 78 cities, and he is still working on it since some of the flags take whole buildings, or even flights of stairs.
