Midsummer’s day

Midsummer’a day was from the beginning a religious celebration but nowadays at least in Sweden it’s more like a tradition. We meet up with friends, neighbours, cousins or total strangers and dance around a pole which is decorated with flowers and leaves. On our heads we have a wreath of flowers. We sing songs and participate in different activities like sack hopping. Afterwards we eat potatoes, meatballs, herring etc. and the adults signs “snapvisor” which is like a drinking song and then takes a shot of vodka.
