Konfirmasjon (confirmation)
In Norway we have this thing called a confirmation but just in Norwegian. I’m having mine in May I think. It’s basically symbolizes that we’re “adults” because for many many manyyyy years ago the age of 15 or the year you turn 15 you were basically an adult. Now it’s just a tradition and a celebration we do. You can either do it religiously (in the Christian church) or atheistic? Idk how to explain it. Anyways I’m doing it the atheist way because I don’t believe in God. So we have to do these lessons before we can do our confirmation. The Christians gotta go to church a few times and do some studies there. The atheist way you gotta do studies about humans and how to be yourself and stick up for yourself and stuff. Basically believe in yourself and other humans. Then we do the ceremony which is hmm, Idk how the church one works because the three confirmations I’ve been in were all atheist ones. In the atheist ones we have this ceremony. We but on our national costume named “bunad” (they be hella expensive). And we go on stage and have a few speeches, maybe a performance by someone, and then we get a diploma. When we’re done there we go to our reception. There are all of our family members and some family friends. Us the “konfirmantene” hold a speech. Then a family member holds a speech. After that we get presents (normally 50-100$ per person which is veryyyy nice ;D) and we eat dinner and dessert. And that’s basically it. Oh and we take pictures as well lol
