Parijs van Java
This story is about a city I’ve been living in for 4 years. It’s Bandung, the capital city od West Java. It’s one of the student city in Indonesia. Also wellknowns for its garment industries, factory outlets, concaved plateu topography, and its Sundanese culture. It was around 20s-30s, when Indonesia colonized by Dutch, Bandung is a resting and tourism place for Dutch and it was called Parijs van Java because of its beauty, peacefulness, and cool temperature. Nowadays, many people from hectic nearby city like Jakarta come to Bandung every weekend to enjoy natural view (It’s quite metropolis but it doesn’t has much high building like Jakarta), shopping, and do some culinary tour. One of my favorite spot in Bandung is Jalan Braga (Braga Street). Jalan Braga surrounded by historic areas such as Gedung Merdeka, Museum of the Asian-African Conference, Bandung City Square, Point 0 (Zero) of Bandung City, and others. Thus, tourists can freely walk to enjoy the Braga and surrounding areas to get to know the history of Bandung. It’s romantic, melancholy, perhaps a bit glum. Vintage-style park benches and street lamps adorn the pedestrian.
