Jam Session

A jam session is an activity/event organised and done by jazz musicians (or any musician), the jam session is a practice of playing with each other, typically over tunes from the American song book that we call ‘standards’ these are relatively simple tunes. It’s the fact that each player and person plays it differently, and the interplay between each musician is what makes the tunes special. In jazz there’s an obvious slant on improvisation and being in the moment as well:).
