A third of the Mauritius is covered with Sugarcane fields. Another way to put this into perspective is that you are guaranteed to see a sugarcane field every three to five miles of driving anywhere in the country.
The fields are normally divided in squares miles and in between them,are a narrow pathway which is occasionally used by tractors. However over years family have taken this opportunity to use those peaceful pathways for running or a simple walk with the family. I remembered doing many walks with my parents, mostly in the late evening just when the sun is setting down. The last golden rays is still finding its ways through the sugarcane and it was so quiet. It was a safe place too as they were only being used in the harvesting season. Other times, it was just quiet with some workers returning home on their bicycle after a long day of work.
The above description is nowhere close to the actual experience but i would suggest that you do this if you have some spare times in the evening after having visited those amazing tourist hotspot.
