The Annual Grape Crush and Harvest Festivals

In the fall we harvest the grapes as the foliage turns orange and red. The rolling vineyards are loaded with Pinot Noir and Chardonney in our area. As I write the last of the Chardonnays are being harvested. All the grapes of one varietal are poured into a big tank and everyone jumps in barefooted and crushes the grapes with their feet! This I'm sure this originated and probably still takes place in Italy. Sonoma is home to many Italian and Mexican immigrants who brought their traditions to this area and we are grateful for that gift.
