Masopust Carnival

Carnival is a three-day folk holiday, which in essence has nothing to do with the liturgy, but is nevertheless subject to the course of the church calendar. It was celebrated in the days before Ash Wednesday, which begins a 40-day fast before Easter. Because the date of Easter is moving, Carnival was also a moving holiday.
