Eid

An Eid is a Muslim religious festival. There are two of them, one after Ramadan and the other falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah and lasts for four days until the 13th day. During Eid al-Fitr, Muslims take part in special morning prayers, greet each other with formal embraces and offer each other greetings of “Eid Mubarak,” or “Have a blessed Eid.” They gather with family and friends, give games and gifts to children and prepare and eat special meals, including sweet dishes. During Eid al-adha, people slaughter sheep in sacrifice for god, then distribute the meat for the neighbours and the poor.
