Tambak Sari (Turtle Island)

The green turtle is one of the rare and endanger animals protected by the Indonesian government. To protect the green turtle and its habitats, the Indonesian government collaborates with the local community. The people of this local community previously worked as fishermen. The government’s way to protect the number of green turtles is to breed them in captivity with help from the local community. Visiting turtle island conservation introduced and educated my kids about green turtle and how to take care of them, the food, the breeding process, their eggs, etc. The oldest turtle that we saw is a 70-year-old male turtle with the weight about 400 kg. The guide told us that it needs 4 adult big men to pick it up. Other than green turtles, as I remember we are also introduced to hawksbill turtle, another rare and endanger turtles. This turtle is not as big as green turtle, the biggest turtle can reach the weight around 127 kg. However, in this place we only saw small hawksbill turtle. There are also other animals there, such as python snake, owl, peacock, bat, and mongoose. We took glass bottom boat and took about 1 hour from Tanjung Benoa beach to get there. Good and educated trip for family. *) Disclaimers: Turtle Island Tanjung Benoa Is Not an Island, Is A Green Turtle Conservation. However, Many Travelers, Called Tanjung Benoa Green Turtle Conservation as Turtle Island Bali.
