Rideau Canal

I love visiting Kingston Mills, which is a lock station on the Rideau Canal-a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Irish immigrants made these locks. There are 4 at this station. It is beautiful and natural. I will take my coffee and sit looking out at the water. There are 2 Great Blue Herons who live along this part of the locks. People come to fish or picnic or walk their dogs and travelers on boats go through. People are happy to talk to you if you want or you can be quiet by yourself. There is also a train bridge which passes over the locks. I have a bit of a dream to go canoing/camping from Ottawa to Kingston along this waterway.
