Ringing Cowbells

At all Mississippi State University football games, people bring cowbells. Legend has it that during a game with our bitter rival (University of Mississippi, or Ole Miss) a cow wandered onto the field. After that, Mississippi State went on to crush the Ole Miss rebels and the cowbell became a symbol of good luck. There was a point when officials banned them, but now MSU is the only team in the SEC authorized to have artificial noisemakers. Fans ring the cowbells to show support, or when something really good happens.
