5 practical facts about Swedes

We swedes love order and respect, so we stand in line. If enough people stand in a line (which is not a real queue), so formed a queue automatically. We have coined the phrase Fika, and we do it all the time. Fika is a collective word to take a cup of coffee or tea and eat sweets, maybe a Swedish cinnamon bun. If you are travelling to Sweden, remember to remove your shoes when you enter someone's home. Here in the nordic countries we wear socks indoors. We are punctual. If we say that we will meet up at 18, then, we meet up at 18 and NOT 18:10 or later. Swedes are usually early instead of late. So to avoid the unpleasantness, came in time! We don't like to talk with strangers. To start talking with a complete stranger at the bus stop is considered rude. And worse still if the spot next to a Swede is available on the bus and you put yourself out to be pleasant, think again..
