The Mid-Autumn Festival in Zhoushan
My hometown, Zhoushan, lies in the eastern part of Zhejiang province and is situated on a chain of beautiful islands. It almost has nothing particularly exciting and interesting, but our Mid-Autumn festival is quite unique. Usually, Chinese people celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival on August 15th, but we celebrated on the next day, August 16th. The reason why we “put off” this festival has something to do with Fang Guozhen. Although the date is different, the customs remain the same. We eat delicious mooncakes and admire the full moon at night. My favorite are the pineapple flavored mooncakes. While other people enjoy their mooncakes and chat with their family, I prefer to watch the moon from my telescope. And I have taken quite a few photos. In the telescope, only part of the moon can be seen, so it’s a pity I can’t show you a whole moon. But it’s still great!
