There are 17 World Heritage Sites in Poland and 5 others on a tentative list which are waiting for being considered for nomination. The most famous are: Historic Centre of Kraków, Wieliczka Salt Mine and Auschwitz Birkenau, German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp (1940–1945)
