Warsaw Uprising 1944

Warsaw Uprising against the Nazis began on the 1st of August 1944 and ended on the 2nd October 1944. The Uprising was fought for 63 days with little outside support. It was the single largest military effort taken by any European resistance movement during World War II. It is estimated that about 16,000 members of the Polish resistance were killed and between 150,000 and 200,000 Polish civilians died, mostly from mass executions. Younger members between the ages of 15 and 17 served in combat groups and were mainly responsible for reconnaissance and communication missions.
