Hurling and Camogie

Hurling and camogie are very popular sports in Ireland. They are basically the same but hurling is for males and camogie is for females. It is a ball sport with a small leather ball called a sliotar. Players hit the ball with a wooden stick called a hurley. It is a very fast-paced games so players must wear helmets to prevent head and face injuries. Two teams play against each other on a grass field with two goalposts. Points are scored by getting the sliotar either into the net or over the bar. It is very physically demanding to play but very exciting to watch!
