Kwafie festival

The kwafie festival is celebrated in my hometown, Dormaa-Ahenkro in Ghana, specifically the Bono region. It is done to pay homage to the chiefs and ancestors. Mourning clothes with no jewelleries are worn during the street parade. During this time, most people who have travelled go home, to witness the celebration. The festival ends with a big celebration at the king’s palace where food and music are shared and played. You get to meet lots of people and old friends during this time also.
