Gelert the Wolfhound, Welsh folk story

In the tale, Llewelyn the great returns from hunting to find his baby missing and Gelert with blood on his mouth. Believing he killed the baby, Llewelyn kills Gelert. Llewelyn then finds the baby crying behind the cradle, unharmed, along with a dead wolf who attacked the baby and was killed by Gelert. Llewelyn is overcome with remorse and buries the dog with a huge ceremony (which leads to the town name, Beddgelert. Which means Gelerts Grave.) After that day Llewelyn never smiles again. Not a very happy story but a very good one. It has lead to a lot of art and poetry and there is a grave still in Beddgelert.
