In Estonia on Midsummer night people go looking for the glow worms that glow in the dark. It is believed that the person who finds one first will become lucky in love and finds the love of their life by the end of the year. People also look for the fern flower which should bloom for a short while only on Midsummer night, the brightest night of the year. It is a myth since they don't actually bloom in the way we expect (ferns are not flowering plants) but people still try to find the magic flower. According to the myth, the flower brings fortune to the person who finds it. In some tales it allows humans to understand animal speech and/or obtain other special abilities. The picture of the fern flower is a painting called Fern Flower (1875) by Witold Pruszowski from National Museum in Warsaw.
