Snow Goose Migration

In this keepsake, I wanted to tell about an event that happens in my area of Pennsylvania, USA. This event is the great Snow Goose migration. Thousands upon thousands of white snow geese and tundra swans migrate from their wintering breeding grounds in the arctic to warmer areas of the country in the winter. Along the way, these massive flocks have stop-overs to refuel and forage. My particular region, is where they often land every year for this stop-over. The flocks are tens of thousands in number, there are so many white birds that they block out the sky when they fly together. They all congregate in the same body of water, and the sound of their honks can be heard for miles. They almost completely cover the surface of the water. Wildlife photographers from all over travel to this area in order to capture the event. One of the most breathtaking visuals of this event is if one bird gets spooked, the entire flock gets spooked, so thousands of these birds all at once thunder into the sky.
