Education in China
I would like to talk a little bit about education in China. The stereotype of Chinese education as repressive and constrained, I would say, is partly true and partly wrong. I used to study in Shanghai until I was in the third grade of junior high school and transferred back to Hunan Province. For some reason, I taught myself to take the college entrance examination at home. This experience has given me a lot of insights. In Shanghai, I went to a public school, where I developed many hobbies, learned to work in teams, and participated in many activities. It's really unforgettable. I will never forget my days of studying in Hunan Province, where everyone studied very seriously, and thanks to the accommodation, I learned to live independently, while also becoming humble and diligent and more reticent. I don't know if it's good or bad. Unable to adapt to the unscientific teaching and revision method of the third year of high school, I chose to study on my own to take the college entrance examination. Of course, I have absolutely no objection to teacher-led learning, self-study and being taught need to be balanced, and scientificity also needs to be evaluated. Learning should be lifelong, and we need to review our education and self-learning ability at each stage.
