Tintern Abbey

Tintern is famous for its abbey and for the poets and painters such as Wordsworth and Turner who visited it two hundred years ago. Its a romantic place with a somewhat dark history. Like many abbeys, it was taken down by the commissioners of Henry VII in 1536. However, before that it had a long life under the Cistercian monks who first built it in 1131.
