Bonfire Night

So, Bonfire Night happens on the 5th of November every year here in England. It's a night of building big fires as a family or a community, lighting fireworks, playing with sparklers and having a party. There's always lots of food and beer on offer! Although the person lighting the fireworks should probably stay away from the beer. Haha! The history behind Bonfire Night is pretty dramatic. Guy (Guido) Fawkes was part of the Gunpowder plot in 1605. He wanted to blow up King James the First and his government whilst they were in The Houses of Parliament. The fires and fireworks basically represent what would have happened if Guy Fawkes' plot wasn't foiled. People say that Guy Fawkes was the only man that ever entered Parliament with honest intentions. Haha!
