Mardi Gras
While Mardi Gras is traditionally a religious celebration, it has evolved over the years. It now includes two weeks of large parades every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and an entire day of parades on Fat Tuesday, or Mardi Gras Day. The float riders throw beads, toys, and stuffed animals from the floats for spectators. There is loud music, dancing, alcohol and parties. Many people cook food on the parade route, especially boiled seafood because Mardi Gras is the start of crawfish season.
