Polish Christmas in England

Although my family lives in England, we celebrate Polish traditions rather than English ones. For example, our Christmas is on the 24th, on Christmas Eve, and we don't really do much on Christmas Day. Also, we share a wafer called "opłatek" and we wish eachother things for the new year, and we don't eat turkey, but traditionally we do have 12 dishes altogether. Sometimes we incorporate English traditions into our celebrations though, for example Christmas crackers, and sometimes we even have a traditional English Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. Our local Catholic parish priest is even learning some Polish phrases! We shop at the Polish shop a lot, but especially for these occasions as many ingredients cannot be found at the usual English supermarkets we shop at. However, sometimes if we're lucky, we can find a Polish or Eastern European section in Tesco and other supermarkets. In addition, our Christmas trees go up a lot later than in most English households, usually not more than a couple days before Christmas Eve, and they come down a lot later - the latest is usually around the end of January or beginning of February! It is also customary to go to confession sometime before Christmas. I find it quite funny that I open my presents before most of my friends (L🤭), and that my celebrations are over when they begin for my friends.
