Harana/Serenade

A tradition dating back to the Spanish Colonial Period in the Philippines, “Harana” or serenade consisted of a man standing by the house of the woman he wants to pursue and singing for her by her window in accompaniment with vocals or instruments, namely a guitar, in order to for his suitability to be evaluated by the woman and her family.
