Christmas celebrations
We celebrate Christmas on the 24 instead of 25. it's a special day when families gather for a formal dinner with traditionally twelve meatless dishes. Poles also share a wafer, known as "opłatek," before the meal, exchanging well wishes(It's usually really awkward). We also attend Pasterka, a midnight mass from December 24th to December 25th, marking the birth of Jesus. We also have a tradition of singing Christmas carols, and sometimes groups of carolers dress up and visit homes during the Christmas season. This is also something a lot of people don't really do anymore but it is still something important for my family and it's about decorating the christmas tree. It is traditionally decorated on Christmas Eve or a few days before and is kept up until Epiphany (Three Kings' Day, January 6th).
