Saint James Fire

Saint James Fire or in French “les feux de la St Jean” is a very important tradition in Catalonia. It exists as well in other part of Europe but it is still celebrated in Catalonia. We gather on the between 21st and 24th of June, marking the summer solstice with bonfires, dancing, and community gatherings to bring good fortune and ward off evil spirits. Children are lining up with candles and they throw them into woods to light up the big fire you can see on the picture. I used to love this tradition because it reminds me of end of school and beginning of summer holidays. With my friends and family, we were gathering and eating barbecue with bread and french fries. (trust me best meal everrrrr)I miss it so much!!! 🥹
