May Day

We have an event called “May Day” -which has been around since the 13th century. It involves women dancing around a pole (called a May Pole) with colourful ribbons, men dancing with bells on their shoes, and raising money for charities in town fairs. This is normally only celebrated in the countryside and is a very community based event with lots of fun treats and laughs :) I used to be a May dancer when I was little and it was so fun to do with my friends. Sometimes you even got a ribbon on a stick to play with too!! If anyone got the chance, I’d defo reccomend going to a May Day event and enjoying the festivities 🩷
