Pongal, 4 day celebration

Pongal is a 4 day celebration thanking the Sun god, the farmers, mother nature and the farm animals especially the cows. It's a day we appreciate and celebrate them for their hard work. the whole town comes together and pray for the well being of everyone. Pongal is called Pongal because we boil rice with dal and spices and let it boil and let the water spill out (the boiling and spilling out of water is called ponguradhu in Tamil, hence the name Pongal. The most famous game played during Pongal is Jallikattu - stopping the bull and winning prizes - an act of Tamil bravery. There are several other activities but the list goes on...
