Festa Junina

Imagine a giant picnic under the stars, where everyone is dressed up like adorable farmers! That’s Festa Junina, my favorite celebration. Held in June, it’s like a country-style carnival with straw hats, plaid shirts, and lots of dancing. People gather to honor saints like Saint John with traditional folk music, the quadrilha dance (think of it as Brazil’s version of a square dance), and delicious treats like pamonha, canjica, and pé-de-moleque—all made from corn! Oh, and the games! There are fishing booths, ring tosses, and even mock weddings with funny costumes and scripted dramas. It's all about community, laughter, and a cozy countryside vibe.
