Festa Junina
Festas Juninas, also known as festas de São João for their part in celebrating the nativity of St. John the Baptist, are an annual Brazilian celebration! It has some traditions like jumping over a bonfire and the traditional choreographed dance: the Quadrilha! It is a dance that is usually done with a partner. Clothes are also very important at Festas Juninas, they are more country and usually with stripes. The girls wear big, colorful dresses, their hair is braided, and their makeup is strong. But the most important part is the food! I think the best known are: Pamonha, Canjica, Paçoca, Boiled corn and Corn cake. Ah, also, Festa Junina translates to June Parties, cause its made in june!
