Juneteeth - Freedom Day

This holiday celebrates and commemorates the day when the remaining enslaved African Americans in Texas, in 1865, learned they were free people. This was two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863 declaring all enslaved people in Confederate states were now free people. To celebrate, we have parades, festivals with music and food, and story telling to honor our ancestors, history and celebrate our achievements.
