Pust

Similar to Halloween, people dress up in costumes called "maškare" and go from house to house to receive candy, money or "krofi". "Krofi" are traditional Slovenian food similar to a donut, that are usually filled with apricot jam. The point of Pust is to chase the winter away, since it's celebrated on February and welcome in spring. Some people dress up into a traditional Slovenian mascot known as "kurenti". It's a huge costume made with sheep wool and massive heavy bells attached to the waist. They often give out pieces of cloth to children.
