Wianki celebration
The Warsaw Wianki, or "Wreaths," is a vibrant celebration held in early June, marking the beginning of summer and linked to the ancient Slavic festival of Kupala Night. This tradition dates back to when people would gather to celebrate the summer solstice, gather herbs, and create floral wreaths.During the contemporary Wianki festival, the Vistula Boulevards transform into a lively venue filled with music, art, and cultural activities. The highlight of the event is the ritual of releasing wreaths into the Vistula River. Young women traditionally make wreaths from flowers and herbs, which they release onto the water as a way to forecast their romantic futures.Wianki not only serve as a nostalgic nod to Polish folklore but also offer a platform for modern artists and performers, featuring live concerts, workshops, and various artistic displays. It’s a time of joy and community, celebrating both tradition and the vitality of contemporary Polish culture
