Uunsi/Foox (Incense Rituals for Homes & Clothes) - Somali

Somali women burn uunsi or foox (frankincense and myrrh) in special burners (dabqaad) to scent their homes and clothes. It is common before guests arrive, after eating food(in the dining room/area), after cleaning the house, or as part of beauty routines. Clothes are placed over the smoke to absorb the fragrance.
