May Day, Beginning of northern summer

This day celebrates the beginning of summer (Northern hemisphere). It's not done so much anymore, but one tradition (and of which I did as a young child), is leaving small baskets (ours were small woven paper baskets made from something like construction paper) with small chocolates/sweets and some would leave flowers anonymously on friends' and neighbors' doorsteps.
