Laidens Ontzet (Independance from Spain)

On the 3rd of October each year, the town I (used to) live in celebrates the indepence of the spanish occupancy of the city Leiden. It's also called 'Leidens ontzet'. We eat harring and white bread, hutspot with klapstuk (or balls) and sing songs about the old days. We also have a fair and parades. It's widely visited from all surrounding towns and city's because it's a big party and the Leidenaars love to share in this activity. (oh yeah, world DJ Armin van Buuren was actually born here in Leiden)
