Bebok - Silesian legends

What or who is a bebok? Bebok is a creature that Silesian children hear about very often. It can be stated that bebok is a kind of aid in raising and disciplining the youngest Silesians. Parents wanting to frighten a child or forbid a certain activity say - uwŏżej, bo cie bebok zjy. Or - niy rōb tak, bo cie bebok weźnie. In the perception of several-year-olds, the creature appears as an undefined creature that can beat a naughty child, take him away or, in the worst case, even eat him.The bebok's supernatural qualities only work on young children. According to some legends, the bebok's main criterion by which it chooses its victims is height - the creature can't handle people taller than it.
