Traditional Irish Music (aka trad)

Trad music is a massive part of Irish culture and is extremely important to Irish people. People gather in groups to play in a seisiúin (session in English) and everyone contributes by playing music or singing old songs. A lot of trad music has been written about Irish history and unfortunately can be very sad. For example themes include The Great Irish Famine, the plantations, civil wars etc. The symbol of Ireland is the Celtic Harp - which i play:)
