Coffee time
Let me explain Croatian coffee culture before you accidentally finish your drink in under 10 minutes and cause a national incident. In Croatia, having coffee is really just an excuse to spend time together. When we go to a café, we don’t go just to drink something, we go to talk, laugh, share news, and of course...gossip. Staying only half an hour feels too quick. Most people sit for a couple of hours without even noticing. You could go for a coffe at any time of the day, the best part is that there is no time limit. When we say “Let’s go for coffee” it doesn’t mean you have to order actual coffee. You can get a juice, a Coke, a beer anything is fine. The point is being together. And if we invite you to our home for coffee, don’t be surprised if you’re welcomed with a full meal, dessert, and more.We care a lot about our coffee, and everyone has opinions about which cafés make a good one. There is no Starbucks here and many Croatians will say it’s because their drinks are too sweet and don’t taste like real coffee. We like to keep things simple: black coffee or coffee with milk, maybe a little sugar. Wr don’t drink coffee to wake up, we drink coffee to copewith life, with each other...
