Beamish Mueseum

This is a wonderful museum preserving the life of 1800s-1950s North East England in its coal mining, farming and industrial part. Located in County Durham with lovingly restored buildings, trams, buses and cafes, with new additions like a cinema, staffed by volunteers dressed in period costumes bringing the scene to life. The museum began in the 1970s and many people contributed the hundreds of items that feature in the houses, shops, farms and transport systems.
