Midsummer

Midsummer is an interesting holiday. It’s similar to Christmas but with only two days, midsummers eve and midsummers day. It’s a holiday to celebrate the middle of summer, where the sun is out the longest. It’s two days full of celebrations but especially midsummers eve. We eat loads of strawberries, either with cream or on a cake, pickled herring with potatoes is a must and in the evening we usually have a barbecue. It’s a holiday celebrated with family, friends or even entire communities. The most interesting part is the dance around the maypole. People gather in circles around it, hold hands and then run and jump around to different songs, especially “tiny frogs”.
