The Ancient Cave Paintings of Sulawesi

Some of the oldest cave paintings in the world were discovered in Sulawesi, Indonesia. Inside caves in Maros and Muna Island, researchers found ancient handprints and animal drawings that are estimated to be more than 40,000 years old, and one handprint may even be around 67,000 years old. What makes it even more fascinating is that these people were already creating art and leaving symbols behind tens of thousands of years ago. A lot of people still don’t realize that Indonesia holds such an important part of early human history.
