Medieval Reenactment
In the summer, we celebrate the city's patron saint as we did in 1182. This festival, which lasts over a week, is called the "Palio dell'Assunta." Typical dishes of the time are eaten, and the 10 contrade, which would be the city's 10 neighborhoods, compete in several events, such as: Archery, tug-of-war, medieval drummers' competition, flag-wavers' competition, horse race, and a beautiful parade in medieval costumes. I also participated in the parade for two years with my contrada!
