Swimming in the Aare river
Every summer, many people in Bern cool off by swimming in the Aare River. After work, people pack their clothes and personal belongings in a waterproof dry bag, jump into the river, and let the current carry them home! On sunny days, the riverbanks are full of people picnicking, reading, or just enjoying the view. For locals, swimming in the Aare is one of the best parts of summer in Bern!
