La Boca, BSAS

The neighbourhood of La Boca, located in the Federal Capital, is a very important part of Argentine culture and of my life.It experienced a large wave of immigration, particularly from Italy, which had a significant impact on the way residents speak (using ‘lunfardo’) and interact with one another. The arts also flourished there, with artistic techniques such as filete porteño, dances like the tango, and numerous contemporary musicians. It is also home to the Boca Juniors football team (yes, I’m saying this even though I support River). Its history revolves around the port, where there used to be a large sawmill industry in the past. And although it may not be the most beautiful neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, it has a unique history that is well worth discovering!!
